Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district has been selected for a national-level pilot to construct 177 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) houses using indigenous 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) technology. The Rs 13.93 crore project aims to establish technical protocols and structural benchmarks for scaling 3D-printed rural housing across India.
The houses will be constructed at Burripalem and Obulanaidupalem over 18 months. The programme covers 100 homes measuring 25 sq m and 77 barrier-free units of 32 sq m for Persons with Disabilities. Each house will include a household latrine.
A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding involving the Union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, and the Andhra Pradesh government was scheduled for October 4 at Burripalem.
MoRD will contribute Rs 9.44 crore, including Rs 3.40 crore for 3DCP machinery, Rs 1.50 crore for CSIR-CBRI technical supervision and Rs 4.54 crore for construction. Andhra Pradesh will provide Rs 4.49 crore, including Rs 3.64 crore for land preparation and soil stabilisation.
CSIR-CBRI will provide technological designs, mix formulations and technical oversight. The pilot comes alongside Andhra Pradesh’s allocation of three lakh rural houses under PMAY-G 2.0.
