What if construction waste could become the foundation of a
greener built environment? Angirus’
Wricks® demonstrates how circular materials can replace conventional
building products while delivering measurable environmental and performance
benefits.
For Biome
Environmental Solutions’ Sustainable Farm Villa in Bengaluru, Wricks®
were used for exposed masonry walls and roof tiles, replacing conventional
fired clay bricks and traditional roofing materials. The project deployed 15,000 Wricks® and 3,400 roof tiles,
transforming waste materials into a climate-resilient construction solution.
The impact was significant. The project utilised 48 tonnes of waste, including 12 tonnes of single-use plastic waste and 36
tonnes of construction and demolition (C&D) waste, diverting it from
landfills. The adoption of Wricks® also resulted in an estimated 26 tonne CO?e reduction compared to
conventional clay brick construction.
Beyond sustainability, the material delivered practical
advantages on site. Its inherent damp-proof properties eliminated waterproofing
requirements, while reducing plastering costs by approximately ?45–50 per sq ft. With no curing or
soaking requirements, Wricks® helped save water during construction, while its 90% lower water absorption improved
durability and moisture resistance.
Combining waste reduction, carbon savings and construction
efficiency, Angirus’ Wricks® showcases how innovative materials can help the
industry move towards a more circular and resilient future.
